The Dirty Dozen

I've been reading other people's blogs for awhile now, and it is SO exciting to create my own! If it's this much fun, I may create a few more :)

I want my first post to be something that I've been passionate about for several years - organic food. Organic, meaning that no pesticides were sprayed on the crop only natural pest control methods were used. A sad fact: some of the more dangerous pesticides that were once used in the U.S. are illegal now, but the chemical companies are still allowed to export those products to other countries. Those countries, in turn, still spray crops with these pesticides and import the produce back into the U.S., then we eat it. Yummy, pesticide residue.

SO...there is a list of fruits and vegetables that retain the highest level of pesticide residue. Strive to buy the Organic version of these items if you can possibly find them and they're not outrageously expensive.

DIRTY DOZEN LIST for 2010: Peaches, Apples, Bell Peppers, Celery, Cherries,
Nectarines, Strawberries, Kale, Spinach, Blueberries,
Potatoes, Grapes (especially imported)
